I AM A STORYTELLER.

My name is Anissa Johnson and I am a television producer turned UX designer. Before I explain how I arrived at UX design I'll explain my approach to the discipline. I approach UX design like television development. I always start with understanding the needs and behaviors of my user. With both mediums, I'm always searching for the best way to make my audience's journey interesting and engaging, yet effortless. I have become passionate about creating digital experiences that merge people and the world technologically. I thrive in environments where I can focus on developing paths for users to better navigate their experiences while finding viable solutions.

Before transitioning into UX design I asked myself these questions; what areas was I most gifted in and what skill set had I developed over the course of my career? This is what I came up with. I’m a problem solver. I can comb through data and minute details to find solutions. I am a great collaborator, negotiator and conceptualist. My background in television also made me very visual, a skill that made it easier to transition into UX design and fostered my fascination and understanding of and for the aesthetic. I later had the opportunity to join Hongkun Group's US subsidiary to develop content marketing initiatives. This involved working on a new investment app they were developing, which was a new space for this global company and for me. I was able to be very hands on in the design process and knew that I had found a new calling.

My goal as a UX professional is to continue telling stories. The stories in UX guide users through a technological experience that involves design and written content. I want to help users better navigate interfaces. I want to make the search for information simple while improving performance and usability. Ultimately, I hope to be part of a design team that creates design solutions that are instinctual, impactful and innovative.
